Celebrating National Oyster Day with Some of the UK’s Finest

It’s National Oyster Day – and there’s no better way to mark the occasion than by serving some of the best oysters the British Isles has to offer.

At English’s of Brighton, we’re proud to celebrate the day with a carefully selected trio of native and rock oysters, each with its own unique flavour and story.

Jersey Pacific Oysters
From the island of Jersey, these oysters are the product of over 40 years of family-run aquaculture, now led by third-generation farmer Chris Le Masurier. Grown in the nutrient-rich waters just off the family farm, Jersey oysters are clean, fresh, and full of flavour — a true testament to sustainable British farming.

West Mersea Rock Oysters
Naturally bred and nurtured in the creeks of Essex, these oysters are plump and beautifully shaped, with rich, briny notes thanks to the algae-rich waters. Their strong shells and robust flavour make them a favourite among regulars and first-timers alike.

Poole Rock Oysters
Famed for their subtle nuttiness and grown in the warm, plankton-rich waters of Poole Harbour, these oysters are harvested using a sustainable “eco-harvester” that protects smaller shellfish and the seabed. The result? A delicious, environmentally mindful oyster you can feel good about enjoying.

Join us at English’s today to enjoy oysters served simply — with lemon, shallot vinegar, or your favourite pairing — in honour of National Oyster Day.
