A Taste of the Past: Our 80th Anniversary Throwback Menu

This autumn, English’s of Brighton is marking a truly special milestone — 80 years of the Leigh-Jones family at the helm, and over 150 years since our doors first opened in the historic Lanes.

As part of our “80 Iconic Years” celebrations, we’re inviting guests to take a step back in time with a specially curated Throwback Menu, inspired by some of the classic dishes that have shaped English’s story across the decades.

Created by Head Chef Yuri Magni, this four-course menu brings heritage recipes into the present day, celebrating the timeless flavours that have delighted generations of diners.

The Throwback Menu

  • Scallop St. Jacques – scallops baked with duxelles and a rich mornay sauce

  • ½ Dover Sole “Colbert” – served with wilted spinach and garlic butter

  • Beef Suet Pudding – a traditional suet crust beef pudding topped with lamb kidney, oyster, and garden peas

  • Crêpes Suzette – flambéed with Grand Marnier and served with vanilla ice cream

£70 for four courses

Available all day, Monday 29th September to Sunday 5th October, this menu is the perfect opportunity to experience a slice of English’s history on your plate.

A Celebration of Generations

For nearly a century, English’s has been a place for first dates, family celebrations, and countless oysters shucked at our marble bar. With this menu, we’re honouring the past while celebrating the future — and raising a glass to the loyal customers who have made these 80 years possible.
