Celebrate the Festive Season at English’s of Brighton

Christmas is just around the corner, and at English’s we’re getting ready to welcome the festive season with a menu that captures everything we love about winter dining.

Tucked away in the heart of the Lanes, English’s has been the place Brighton gathers for over a century — where good food, good company and good wine meet. This year’s Christmas Party Menu brings all that tradition together with a few surprises along the way.

Guests will enjoy a glass of prosecco on arrival before choosing from a line-up of seasonal dishes that make the most of land and sea. Think rock oysters with mignonette or ponzu, tiger prawn cocktail with guacamole and smoked paprika, or cod cheeks tempura with pineapple agrodolce. There’s lamb belly with radish tzatziki for something rich and comforting, or a vegetarian favourite — chestnut churros with honey-glazed beetroot and ash goat’s cheese mousse.

For mains, choose from one of the classics: perfectly cooked 200g dry-aged beef sirloin with chips and peppercorn or chimichurri; beautifully roasted whole seabass with choron sauce and fennel shoots; or a crowd-pleasing seafood pie packed with smoked cod, salmon, scallops, prawns, mussels and clams. Of course, it wouldn’t be Christmas without turkey ballotine with pancetta and cranberry pearls, while vegetarians can tuck into pumpkin gnudi with wild mushrooms, smoked ricotta and truffle.

Desserts celebrate the flavours of the season, too. Feast on apple strudel with Calvados crème anglaise, blackberry curd with charred lemon meringue, or our indulgent Christmas pudding with chocolate, pear and brandy custard. There’s also a Porto wine–poached pear with gorgonzola pannacotta for something a little different, or an artisan cheese selection to finish in style.

Two courses are £38 and three courses £48, with the option to add a little extra luxury — seared scallops, tiger prawns, Exmoor caviar or lobster, all prepared to order.
