Summer Flavours Have Arrived at English’s

As the days grow longer and the sun starts to shine that little bit brighter over Brighton’s Lanes, we’re thrilled to unveil our brand new Summer Menu at English’s of Brighton. Head Chef Yuri Magni has drawn on the best of the season — from vibrant British produce to Mediterranean inspiration — to create a collection of dishes that celebrate sunshine, flavour, and the joy of eating well.

Whether you’re dining on our historic terrace with a crisp glass of rosé or settling into the elegant interior for a long, leisurely lunch, our new summer dishes are designed to capture the mood of the season: fresh, light, and full of colour.

Flavours of the Season

From fresh seafood to bold vegetarian dishes, our menu highlights the natural bounty of summer. Starters include the Soft Shell Crab Tempura, paired with a punchy mango, lemongrass and ancho chilli salsa — a perfect blend of sweet heat and citrus. For something more delicate, the Tuna Tataki is a standout, dressed in truffle ponzu with creamy avocado and black sesame.

You’ll also find comforting, bistro-style flavours in the Duck Rillette, served with fennel and apple slaw, sour cherry pearls and walnuts. Or for a vegetarian bite that packs a punch, try our Manchego Bites with padron peppers and romesco sauce — ideal with a glass of something chilled.

Seasonal Seafood, Freshly Prepared

We remain true to our roots as Brighton’s oldest seafood restaurant. Our Catch of the Day continues to be a centrepiece — locally line-caught fish, seasoned, roasted and filleted tableside. Served with a vibrant watercress gremolata purée and garlic butter, it’s a true taste of the Sussex coast.

For something a little richer, the Charred Mackerel Fillets come with samphire and chorizo for a smoky, salty balance — a dish that sings summer. And for those who love handmade pasta, our new Culurgiones are not to be missed. These Sardinian dumplings are made with charcoal dough and filled with roasted aubergine, served in a datterini tomato and potato velouté, topped with smoked ricotta.

Small Plates, Big Flavour

Our Side Dishes are full of seasonal brightness — from Crushed New Potatoes with Bacon and Aïoli, to Samphire with Black Pepper and a Cherry Tomato & Burrata Salad that’s as fresh as it is indulgent. Don’t miss the Padron Peppers, finished with smoked salt and chive – perfect for grazing.

Sweet Endings

To finish, Head Chef Yuri brings flair to classic puddings with a summer twist. Try our Yoghurt Cheesecake with rhubarb compote and caramelised white chocolate crumb – light, creamy and utterly satisfying. Our Eton Mess is elevated with macerated strawberries, balsamic vinegar, chantilly cream and Marcona almonds. For something decadent, the Tiramisù gets a seasonal lift with pistachio mousse and ruby chocolate.
