Discover our Burgundy Wine Night menu
Food and wine share the table throughout the evening, with a different pairing accompanying each of the first five courses. Whether you have a favourite Burgundy or are looking to discover something new, there is plenty to enjoy.
Rock oysters with Champagne
Our Burgundy Wine Night begins with rock oysters, served with sea grape, Granny Smith apple, yuzu and lovage. Fresh apple and citrus complement the oysters, making a bright opening to the six-course menu.
Your first glass will be Pierre Moncuit, Delos Grand Cru Blanc de Blanc Champagne NV. Oysters and Champagne are a fitting place to begin an evening at English’s.
King scallops with Chablis
Next, enjoy king scallops with celeriac, hazelnuts, beurre blanc and samphire. The sweetness of the scallops sits alongside a rich beurre blanc, with hazelnuts adding texture and samphire bringing a taste of the sea.
This course is accompanied by Alain Gautheron, Chablis Premier Cru, Mont de Milieu 2023, introducing the first Burgundy of the evening.
Brill fillet with Puligny-Montrachet
The third course features brill fillet, served with leek, radish, sea urchin emulsion and sorrel. It is another opportunity to enjoy the seafood at the heart of our menu, with accompaniments that give this dish its own character.
Alongside the brill, we will pour Domaine Jacques Carillon, Puligny-Montrachet 2022.
Native lobster agnolotti with Meursault
Our fourth course brings native lobster agnolotti to the table, accompanied by orange, chive, ebi dashi and sesame pangrattato.
The filled pasta and lobster are complemented by citrus and a crisp sesame topping. Served with Domaine Guy Bocard, Meursault Vieilles Vignes 2023, this is a course to take your time over.
Baron Bigod with Pouilly-Fuissé
Following the seafood, enjoy Baron Bigod with pickled walnut, honey and pane carasau. The combination brings together creamy cheese, sweetness, acidity and crunch.
The accompanying wine is Château des Rontets, Pouilly-Fuissé, Les Birbettes 2022, completing the wine selection for our Burgundy Wine Night.
Chocolate and salted caramel to finish
The final course is a chocolate and salted caramel truffle, followed by coffee. A sweet finish to the menu, with time for a little more conversation around the table.
