Wine pairings: Paprika & garlic fried tiger prawns & calamari

In the fourth chapter of our wine pairings series we’re dishing up a popular plate from our Crustacea menu, and one that’s available as either a starter or main course, paprika and garlic fried tiger prawns topped with calamari.

Prawn and calamari paprika dish

The dish
A lightly spiced dish, the balance of flavour between the prawn and calamari gives you a satisfyingly succulent plate of seafood. Order a side of Flint Owl Bakery bread to mop up the sauce left behind, and if it’s a hearty main course you’re looking for, add a side of wilted spinach & greens.

Riesling white wine

Domaine Mittnacht Riesling 2013, Riquewihr, Alsace, Biodynamic

The wine
To dampen the heat we’ve picked a fruity white wine, produced by Domaine Mittnacht, run by Christophe and his cousin Marc. An organic, biodynamic vineyard, this wine is dry, fresh and racy, with plenty of fruit on the palate.
