The new oyster season is cause for celebration at English’s of Brighton
As we mentioned in our last blog, September is a really special time for us. To celebrate one of the most important dates in our calendar we organised an event out on our terrace to mark the start of the new oyster season, which began on the 1st September.
We invited loyal customers and friends to join us for an afternoon of oyster tasting – and shucking! – canapés, blinis, appetisers and a few glasses of our new house champagne, Laurent-Perrier. Here are some photographs from the afternoon.
The oysters in question; Mersea native oysters from Colchester (above) and Mersea rock oysters (below).
They are absolutely fantastic this year – and a great size, as you can see!
Canapé prep both in the kitchen and out on the terrace.
Two of our fabulous guests.
Always a pleasure to be joined by Simon Greenhalgh (right) from Bibendum Wines.
The Laurent-Perrier was certainly flowing all afternoon!
Head chef Clayton Green was on hand to chat to our guests about all things seafood.
Thanks to everyone that joined us! If you have any photos we’d love to see them. And don’t forget – our new Daily Specials menu launches on Monday so make sure you’re following us on Twitter to find out what each day’s menu will be. We’ll only be announcing it on there, so don’t miss out on our very special daily-changing menu. You can enjoy a 2-course meal (main course and dessert) for just £10, 12-5pm, Monday-Friday.
You can find more photos from the day over on our Pinterest page, and to find out more about the new oyster season take a look at our fresh oyster menu and our supplier’s page.
