Spring menu launch at English’s

To celebrate the launch of our new spring menu we invited a few of our favourite bloggers to join us at our marble-topped oyster bar for an afternoon of oysters, a sample of some of our new dishes, and a glass or three of Nyetimber sparkling wine.

Cooked oysters at English's of Brighton

For us, there are few better ways to start a meal than with a fresh platter of oysters. From our cooked oyster menu we served Kilpatrick  and tempura & tartare sauce oysters, and for raw oysters we enjoyed Jersey rocks from the Royal Bay of Grouville, on the east coast of Jersey.

Plenty of photos being taken throughout the event!

Our a la carte menu has been refreshed for spring, and in turn so has English’s Tasting Menu. We served three of the five courses, including cod, asparagus & pancetta, cockle & shrimp sauce (above), ending the meal with l’assiette de pâtissier maison, a mini selection of our a la carte desserts.

To wash it all down we had a few glasses of Nyetimber Classic Cuvee, which will be available in April. This fantastic sparkling wine was perfect for a light afternoon glass of bubbles, with apricot, vanilla and fresh melon flavours, tiny bubbles and perfect clarity.

Thanks to everyone that came to English’s to sample our new menu – it was great to get such fantastic feedback, and to kick off the celebrations for our 70th birthday. For more photos visit our Pinterest page.
